Doodles: Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival

Sometimes photos aren't enough to tell ALL the stories, especially when you are so in the moment that you forget to take the camera out. In my case, doodles fill in the gaps. :)

The Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival in Puerto Galera, Mindoro was a memorable and awesome time for me. It was an experience of many firsts: riding the roro, out of town music festival, camping and a lot more. :) Sharing some of those moments here.

Back to the Sketch Pad

Sometimes I just need a break from my computer. So now I'm practicing sketching again. Still looking for that style that I would be happy with. So I'll be sharing my experiments with you. :)

This is Josh. I copied his face from his own wedding invite. I really liked the illustration style and I wanted to see if I could do it too.

then I found out that my inspiration was the work of Tuesday Mourning.
So I practiced sketching one of her other guys.
I don't know who this is.

Doodles: Donsol

Our Donsol trip was such a beautiful experience, that I highly recommend it to EVERYONE. I could go on and on about our trip, but we'll be sharing more of it in our group blog: Isla Boheme. So for now, I'll let my doodles speak for themselves. :-D

Drawing a Happy Tune

Once in a while, a song catches my attention, makes my eyes a little bigger and my smile a little wider. I love it when that happens. And when the song is brimming with good vibes and ideas I also believe in, then it will forever be in my head... and playlist.

Such are the songs of Franco, a local band I really, really love. Inspired by the things he (Franco Reyes) sings about, I decided to make a couple of illustrations. If everyone listened to their music, the world would be a better place. That's what I think. Hehe. :-P Anyhoots...

Les Gribouillages

Once a week, I hang out with a group of friends to learn "the language of love": French. To help me remember those beautiful-sounding but oh-so-complicated phrases, I made some doodles (les gribouillages) of the words we've been learning.:-D

During one class, Pauline, our French friend and teacher showed us how to make Rataouille and it was délicieux! Check out the recipe above.

PS: If my doodle looks weird, it's because I usually write from right to left. (It's my left handed thing.) The recipe is so simple but so yummy and it's all vegetables (legumes)! Try it out! Amusez-vous! :-)
